Forest bathing in Sonoma County is all about going for a slow, meditative walk in the woods.
Forest bathing, or Shinrin-Yoku was initially created by the Japanese in the 1980s as a way for office workers to get back in touch with nature. Shinrin-Yoku translates to “forest medicine”, or the medicine of being in the forest.
Many of us don’t know what it truly feels like to feel well. Forest bathing allows us to get back in touch with our bodies by slowing down and listening, rather than be distracted with all that’s going on in our lives.
- Calms the sympathetic nervous system
- Helps with taking you out of fight or flight

We will walk through the Guerneville woods under the redwood canopy. It’s quiet. It’s serene. Expect to feel calm and de-stressed.
Meditation comes in many forms, and we will be experiencing multiple variations. Your guide, Deacon Carpenter is an Ayurvedic Clinician who has been living in Sonoma County for 10 years. His philosophy for stress management is to get into nature and out of your head.
Extend your meditative experience in the woods with an add-on yoga class for you or your group.

Jenny Harrow, MA – Nature Therapy Guide
Jenny Harrow is a certified Nature Therapy Guide, Integrative Health Coach, and Guided Imagery Practitioner with a Master’s Degree in Integrative Health Studies. She is specialized in mind-body awareness techniques, stress management tools, health education, trauma-informed care, ecotherapy, and integrative health advocacy.
Jenny is passionate about leading individuals and groups on a journey of self-exploration and healing through her guided forest bathing walks. She wrote her Master’s thesis on the healing benefits of forest bathing, which demonstrates that forest bathing is not only one of the most accessible ways to get in touch with the natural world, but is also one of the most simple ways to lower excessive stress levels. Her approach to leading forest bathing experiences is to share tools with participants to experience the benefits of mindfulness meditation through a guided nature connection experience designed to regulate the nervous system, evoke greater self-awareness, and enhance personal resilience.
In addition to guiding forest bathing experiences, Jenny combines her passion for organizing and integrative health through her role as Co-Founder and Executive Director of the nonprofit Integrative Healers Action Network (IHAN), which emerged during the 2017 Sonoma County wildfires and is committed to building resilient communities supported by trauma-informed integrative health care for first responders and survivors impacted by climate disasters.
